Kievan Rus Park

Kievan Rus Park
Operation: year round
Location: Kopachiv village, Kyiv
Included in the following tours:

The Kievan Rus Park is a unique amusement park. Only in 45 minutes ride from Kiev in Kopachiv village, a brilliant idea of replicating ancient town of Kiev of the 5th-13th centuries is in the process of realization. There will be recreated Detinets-Kremlin of Kiev in the true extent on 10 hectares of land, with all known nowadays architectural details of the capital in the Kievan Rus times. While fortifications of earth walls and moat, palisade, gates with 3-storeyed wooden towers, tournament field, grandstand, watchtowers and timbered manors of Kievans are already available for sightseeing, the park has something else special to offer. These are a theatre with professional actors, equestrian theatre and workshops of various traditional Slavic crafts, such as pottery, thread-doll making, pysanka painting, weaving, carving, blacksmithing, etc. Thus, the park is not just a monumental reconstruction of the core of the Kievan Rus capital but a living image with fairs and streets inhabited by colourfully dressed townsfolk, knights, riders and tradesmen. Interactive theatrical performance, equestrian show, horse riding and pottery or thread-doll making workshop is just a short list of activities offered here. Visiting on Slavic holidays be prepared to witness vivid Slavic festivals, ceremonies, games and rites, or even take part in activity of your choice.

Dear Ukraine Tours:

I was so pleased when I used you in 2003 that I decided to take advantage of your help again this year. Once again, you surpassed yourselves.

Previously, I took advantage of “The Best of the Ukraine”. This time, I picked out the places (Uzhhorod, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankovsk, and of course Kiev) that I wanted to visit. Irina and I corresponded for nearly two months. The emails added up to c 50 A4 pages!

Picking out the hotels was easy. Arranging train connections proved to be more challenging. Irina outdid herself when she arranged a ticket to Chisinau, Moldova which was my next stop.

The Ukraine was my lynchpin for my seven weeks of holiday. If Ukraine Tours did not fulfil what I expected them to do, I would have had to start planning again.

Thankfully, they are truly professional in every sense of the word.
