The Baydary Valley

Baydary Valley
Operation: year round
Location: Orlinoye, Orline

Extending for over 16km, the beautiful Baydary Valley is a true gem of the Crimean landscape. The necklace of the Crimean Mountains encases a wide, sometimes up to 8 km, dole. The place has a lot to offer to a natural adventures lover: mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, canyons and caves. Thanks to benevolent climate, juniper groves, beech and yew forests, thickets of cornelian cherries and hazelnuts flourish in the Baydary Valley. Abundant flood plains are overgrown with high grasses, flowers of meadows and forests. If you arrive on time you might see either orchids blooming or encounter a boar family or a couple of roes or hares. There is a plenty of historically valuable sights in the valley too. The most recognizable are the pre-historic stone menhirs in Skelya (Rodnikovoye Village) shaped in the form of obelisks. Other sights, such as the ancient settlements and burials, can be found with a guide-archeologist mostly. Another highlight of the Baydary Valley is the Skelskaya Cave discovered in 1904.

Now we are back from Odessa an the Crimea. The travel was very successful. We have seen so much (Odessa, Simferopol, Sevastopol, Jalta, Sudak, Koktebel).
Thank for making the connection with the Eugene (Sneshkin). He guided us well, aslo his cousin with the same name.

In this "Thanks" is more than words, because for me it was really a dream to see Odessa and the Crimea. I read a lot of Novels and as a person from the former GDR I saw same things I know from the past. And the developing in the "new" world is enough interesting for me.

With warm greetings, especially to the trees on the Boulevards in Odessa!

Esther and Joachim, Germany
